We didn’t stop wanting connection.
We just stopped knowing whether it was welcome.
Headphones in. Eyes down. Phone out. Self-checkout. Order through an app. Work from home. Keep moving.
Little by little, the small interactions that once punctuated our days have begun to disappear.
Not the important conversations. Not the people we already know and love.
The tiny ones.
The nod to someone waiting beside you.
The few words exchanged in a queue.
The smile from behind a counter.
The conversation that begins with no purpose other than two people happening to be in the same place at the same time.
These moments are easy to dismiss because they are so small.
But together, they remind us that we belong to something beyond ourselves.
The trouble is, saying hello now carries a question:
 Am I interrupting?
 Do they want to be left alone?
 Will this feel awkward?
 Is it still okay?
hello. is a simple answer.

It is not an instruction to talk.
It is not a demand to be cheerful, confident or endlessly sociable. 

You can be quiet.
You can be tired. You can be on your phone, wearing your headphones or carrying the world on your face.
It simply means:
It’s okay to say hello.
A small word, worn as a quiet sign of permission.

Permission to look up.
Permission to acknowledge one another.
Permission to begin.
Because a hello may lead nowhere.

Or it may become a conversation. A story. A thread of community. A moment someone needed more than you could possibly know.
We cannot manufacture those moments.
But perhaps we can make a little more room for them.

This is not really about a T-shirt.
The T-shirt is simply how the idea travels.
